What is hypothyroidism?

The thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped human gland discovered near the base of the neck. It generates hormones such as, testosterone, adrenaline that control vital metabolic processes throughout our bodies. A lack of production in the thyroid of these hormonal agents, is known as thyroid problems. Receptors for these hormonal agents are discovered throughout our bodies, and disruption in the thyroid processes of these can cause problems in almost every system of our bodies from the heart and GI system to sleep, feelings, even our hair growth, skin and nails.
